The first rate you publish anchors your room permanently, underprice at launch and you train viewers who resist every raise that follows.
Only 5% of viewers ever book private shows, and 50% of them are ready to pay above $6/min
A cheap tip menu doesn't attract bigger crowds, it signals a cheap room and draws the viewers least likely to spend.
When you fill out your profile for the first time, one of the most important steps is setting your rates, especially for private sessions. And the site doesn't give you much help: no suggested range, no minimum or maximum, just an empty box. It's normal not to know what to put. Finding the right price means understanding the market, knowing what viewers are willing to pay, and figuring out what your own offer is worth.
Every format, tip menu, privates, fan club, goal shows, has a number that makes sense for your room. The math is what makes those numbers defensible, not just a guess.

The First Number You Set Is the Hardest to Change
A rate is not just a price. It's a signal to everyone who walks into your room. Set it low and your room learns what you cost. That number becomes the reference point.
When you try to raise it later, you're not raising your rate. You're fighting a room that already decided your value based on the first number you showed them.
The viewers you're most tempted to price for are the passive ones, and they are not the ones who buy. More than half of cam site users primarily browse and watch without spending anything. Only 5% ever book a private show.
Pricing your private rate to please the 95% who will never book is pricing for the wrong audience.
The community has had this figured out for a while.
Cheap attracts cheap. Knowing your worth attracts your worth.
That's not pessimism. That's how room calibration works. Viewers who are willing to spend are not put off by fair rates. Viewers who were never going to spend will always find a reason not to, no matter what you charge.
Start where you mean to stay, or close to it.
How to Build a Tip Menu That Converts
A tip menu is not a price list. It's a room-calibration tool.
The range from your cheapest item to your most expensive tells viewers what kind of room they're in before a single word is spoken. Get that range wrong and you'll attract viewers who expect everything for almost nothing.
The top triggers for tipping are emotional connection and feeling noticed. Your menu is the conversion tool for that connection.
Structuring Your Tiers: Entry, Mid, and Top
The amount of tokens in the following tiers are based off sites like Chaturbate or Stripchat where 10 tokens equals $0.05 to you. Adjust according to your platform.
Entry tier (10-50 tokens): Small interactions. Attention-getters. A name-drop, a flash, a wave. These exist to get someone tipping at all.
Mid tier (50-200 tokens): Specific acts, outfit changes, extended interactions. This is where most tipping volume lands in a healthy room.
Top tier (200-1,000+ tokens): Extended actions, exclusive requests, anything that commands your full focus. The top item anchors the whole menu upward. It makes the mid-tier items feel reasonable by comparison. Don't leave it out.
For interactive toys, toy activation typically starts at the low end of your menu and scales with the tokens spent. How that works in practice depends on the platform: Stripchat has a separate toy menu, while on Chaturbate it lives in the chat or through the Lovense app overlay. The token threshold is yours to set.
You don't need a perfect menu on day one. You need a working one.
Browse a few models in your niche and see what they're offering. Not to copy, but to calibrate. You'll quickly get a feel for what's standard, what's a premium, and where there's room to be creative.
Start with a short list you can actually deliver consistently. Add items as you get a feel for what your room responds to. A menu you can stand behind is worth more than an exhaustive one you half-commit to.
Private Show Rates: How Much to Charge Per Minute
The viewers who book private shows are not the passive viewers in your free room. They are a small, high-intent group, and they have much higher price tolerance than most new models assume.
Private buyers will pay a fair rate. They will not show up in greater numbers because you charged less.
Before you set any rate, you need the token math.
The Token Math You Need Before Setting Any Rate
On Chaturbate and Stripchat, you earn $0.05 per token. Here's what that looks like per minute:
Tokens/Min
Viewer Pays (approx.)
You Earn
18 tk/min
$1.44
$0.90
30 tk/min
$2.40
$1.50
60 tk/min
$4.80
$3.00
90 tk/min
$7.20
$4.50
180 tk/min
$14.40
$9.00
On Streamate and Jerkmate, you earn 35% of each $1 Gold token. At the platform average of $5.50/min, it means models make approximately $1.93/min. Different math, same principle: know what you actually take home before you pick a number.
Chaturbate's technical minimum is 6 tokens per minute. The community consensus is not to go below 18. That's not a platform rule. It's the lived advice from working models who learned what happens when you do.
Where to start, depending on where you are:
New model: 18–30 tk/min
Established (60+ viewers): 45–90 tk/min
Top rooms (800+ viewers): 120–200+ tk/min
These ranges make sense when you apply the token math. At 18 tk/min you're earning $0.90/min. At 60 tk/min you're earning $3.00/min. Those aren't just numbers: they're the floor between a session that's worth your time and one that isn't.
Want to see what models with a room your size actually charge? The freemium show price calculator gives the typical private, spy and exclusive private rate for your average viewers, based on a snapshot of 1,000 live rooms.
In small rooms, that typical rate sits below 18 tk/min: 12 tk/min under 6 viewers, 16 tk/min from 6 to 20. That's exactly the underpricing this guide warns about, so treat it as the going rate, not your floor.
Your viewer count isn't enough to set your price. Even with just 50 viewers, if people regularly ask you for private sessions, that's a sign your privates are in demand. In that case, you can raise your rates.
When a viewer pushes you to lower your rate, "my rate is X" is a complete sentence. You don't owe anyone a negotiation.
cheap prices attract people, but mainly freeloaders who spend little to nothing but stay for a whole show and take advantage of you and your higher tippers. I charge 90tk/min and have a 10 minute minimum and I get lots of pvt requests and they tip on top of the minute wage as well.
For when to actually move your rate up, that's covered at the end of this guide.
Fan Club Pricing: What to Charge and What to Gate
A fan club can add real recurring income. It can also quietly drain the spending you were already getting, if you price it wrong.
The question to anchor to: what does your average organic tipper spend per session? Your fan club should be priced with that number in mind.
Fan clubs on major platforms have established ranges:
Stripchat: $9.99 / $19.99 / $49.99
CamSoda: $9.99–$24.99
LiveJasmin: $5.99–$99.99
Chaturbate: model-set (no platform-defined tiers)
Jerkmate/Streamate: $9.99–$24.99
The risk is gating heavy perks too low. If a viewer was spending generously in your room and your fan club entry tier includes significant discounts on private shows, you may find that viewer moving their spend into the subscription instead of tipping on top of it. You've replaced variable income with fixed income, and not necessarily at a better rate.
Keep the deep discounts at higher tiers. Exclusive content and chat badges at the base tier are fine: they reward loyalty without redirecting spending. Private show discounts at the entry price point are where you need to be careful.
Other Show Formats: Goal Shows, Ticket Shows, and Group Shows
Goal shows, ticket shows, and group shows are each their own product with their own pricing logic. They're not interchangeable, but they share one rule: size the number to the room you actually have, not the room you want.
The most common mistake with goal shows is setting a number your room can't hit. An impossible goal kills momentum.
Room Size
Goal Show Target
Ticket Show Entry
Under 100 viewers
500-1,000 tokens
50-100 tokens
100–500 viewers
1,000-3,000 tokens
100-200 tokens
500+ viewers
3,000-10,000 tokens
200-500 tokens
The back-calculation is simple. On Chaturbate or Stripchat: divide your target payout by $0.05 to get the tokens you need. Want $50 from a goal show? You need 1,000 tokens from your room.
Group shows work similarly: price the entry token to reflect what you'd need to make the session worthwhile divided across the expected headcount. These are lower-barrier than private shows and can run alongside goal structures as a stepping stone for viewers who aren't ready to book a private.
When to Raise Your Rates, and What Tells You It's Time
The signal to raise your rate is not a follower count or a calendar date.
It's when you're consistently turning down private requests because your schedule is full. That means demand already exceeds your current price. You're leaving money behind by staying where you are.
A bigger room is the other sign. Followers don't pay, but your average viewers set the going rate: the typical private rate goes from 16 tk/min at 6 to 20 viewers to 24 tk/min at 21 to 60, and 44 tk/min at 61 to 200. If your room has moved up a bracket and your rate hasn't, you're likely charging less than rooms your size.
When you're ready to move: raise in 10-20% increments. Test for two to three weeks. Tell your room with a direct announcement, not an apology. "Private rate is moving to X next week" is enough.
Regulars who value the time will stay. Viewers whose presence depended entirely on you being cheap were not your regulars.
I recently raised mine to 360 tk/minute and I'm not seeing a reduction in Pvt requests. Just go for it. Worst case scenario it doesn't work out (you got a mini break) and now you can switch it back. No harm done.
The worst case is a rest. That's the actual downside, a few quiet sessions while the room adjusts.
The upside is a permanently higher floor that compounds every week you're live.

Quick Answers
Does psychological pricing (like 99-token items) actually work on cam?
Less than it does in retail. Tokens are already an abstracted currency, viewers aren't doing dollar math on each tip. What works better is tier contrast: a 500-token item makes a 100-token item look reasonable. Placement and tier structure move more behavior than the gap between 99 and 100.
Should my tip menu have a minimum tip amount?
Yes, and make it visible. Skip it and you'll often find your room conditioned to send 1-5 token tips, which trains viewers to treat your attention as nearly free. A 10-token floor is a reasonable starting point. State it in your bio or room rules so it's clear before anyone tips.
Are my private show rates transferable across platforms?
No, recalculate for each one. Platform averages differ: Chaturbate averages $2.15/min viewer-facing, Stripchat $2.30/min, Jerkmate/Streamate $5.50/min, LiveJasmin $7.20/min. The token math underneath those numbers also differs. A rate that feels fair on Chaturbate may land very differently on a Gold-based platform.
Can I charge different rates for cam2cam vs. standard private?
You can, and many models do. Cam2cam takes genuine additional attention. It's not a passive add-on. A per-minute premium for cam2cam is standard practice, not a premium move. Set it, state it in your room, and don't apologize for it.
You now have a number for every format and the logic that makes it defensible. The next question is what your platform keeps from those numbers, that's in the platform earnings guide. After that: how to get the rest to your bank account, that's the payment setup guide.
